Norilsk: the production capacity of taimyrsky nickel mine is restored by 40%

On June 4, Norilsk announced that its taimyrsky nickel mine in Siberia is currently operating at 40% capacity (5000 tons per day). The company’s senior vice president stated that the mine’s water has been pumped out and is expected to resume its design capacity of 12100 tons per day by the end of June.
Another oktyabrsky mine resumed full production on May 13. The forecast of 2021 nickel production has been lowered by 15-20% to about 190000-200000 tons.
In the afternoon, after Norilsk announced the news, nickel prices rose slightly on the London Metal Exchange, trading at more than $18000 per ton.
